Studes take part in
earthquake drill

Students of the College of Teacher Education
took part in the earthquake drill as conducted by the Red Cross Youth Club
(RCYC) at the Outdoor Stage., August 10.
Support groups came from the Ilocos Norte
Philippine Red Cross (INPRC) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of Laoag City.
Haidee Manalili, a PRC staff, served as the
first speaker. After delivering his lecture on the nature of earthquake, he
discussed the preliminary procedures to be done during earthquakes.
He
instructed the teachers and the students not panic or run when there is an
earthquake because it can cause confusion that may lead to any kind of injury. Instead, they should stay wherever they are
and execute the three important moves - duck, cover and hold until the tremor
stops.
Meanwhile,
Sr. Inspector Bonifacio Sacatripos, Head Marshall of the BFP tackled on the
topic Fire prevention. He also provided them the things to do before, during,
and after such calamities.
After the lectures, the students participated
during the drill as being led by the RCYC officers, who also served as victims.
The teachers also joined the activity given
the instruction to check every room and ensure the safety of the students.
Prof. Lilybeth Agno and Prof. Celleni
Sanchez, RCYC advisers, along with the officers, thanked speakers and vowed to
follow the instructions they have shared.
